Scientific Figure
Turn a prompt, sketch, PDF or abstract into publication-ready figures
About Scientific Figure
Scientific Figure is an AI tool that turns a text prompt, a hand sketch, an abstract or a full paper PDF into a publication-ready scientific figure in about 30 seconds. It is aimed at researchers who need an accurate figure but have no designer and no time to learn Illustrator. Unlike a general-purpose image generator, it draws to the conventions of scientific illustration and leaves every element live, so a wrong gene name is a correction rather than a regeneration.
Labels stay as editable text, and arrows, colors and shapes stay as objects you can move. Figures can be recolored to journal palettes, drawn in one of nine illustration styles, and exported as PNG, JPG, layered SVG or editable PPTX. Pricing starts free with 100 credits at sign-up plus 20 credits per daily check-in, with watermarked exports and no publication license. Paid plans are Lite at $9.90/month (1,200 credits), Pro at $19/month (3,000) and Plus at $39/month (7,000), or $99, $144 and $240 billed yearly.
You start from whatever you already have: a sentence, a whiteboard sketch, a photo, an abstract or the whole paper as a PDF. You can also upload a reference image and pick a style, or leave the style on auto.
The AI states its understanding of the request, then draws the figure in about 30 seconds following scientific conventions. Illustrations, diagrams, charts and plots are all supported.
Next you change anything in the canvas. You can fix a label, redraw one panel, recolor to a journal palette or strip the background, because nothing is baked into a flat image.
Finally you export. PNG and JPG are available at 300 or 600 dpi, along with layered SVG and an editable PPTX slide, with sizes up to 8K on the higher plans.
- •Four Ways In - Start from text, a hand sketch, an abstract or a paper PDF. The tool reads the source and draws the figure from it.
- •Fully Editable Output - Every label, arrow and shape stays editable after generation, so small fixes do not require starting over.
- •Journal Palettes - Recolor a finished figure to Nature, Science, NEJM, The Lancet, JAMA or Okabe-Ito in one click.
- •Nine Illustration Styles - Pick one look, from clean schematic and flat vector to line art and 3D render, and keep every figure in a paper consistent.
- •Publication License - On paid plans, each figure can carry a numbered PDF certificate of commercial and journal-publication rights that an editor can verify online.
- •Dedicated Figure Tools - Purpose-built makers cover graphical abstracts, posters, plots, PRISMA flow diagrams, phylogenetic trees, cell diagrams and signaling pathways.
Scientific Figure is for PhD students redrawing a mechanism for a revise-and-resubmit, labs with no budget for a scientific illustrator, PIs who need a clean schematic for a grant, educators building lecture slides that stay editable in PowerPoint, and science communicators or medical writers explaining a result to non-specialists.
The free credits are enough to try it on a real figure. Anyone submitting to a journal will want a paid plan for watermark-free exports and the publication license, with Lite suiting light use and Pro or Plus suiting frequent figure work.
