IntoLayers
Split a flat image into editable layers and a layered PSD
About IntoLayers
IntoLayers is an AI image to layers converter. You upload a flattened PNG or JPEG, and the AI separates the text, subjects and graphics onto transparent layers of their own, rebuilds the background behind them, and exports the stack as a layered PSD with every layer named and in its original position. It solves a common and tedious problem: a finished image with no working file. When a client sends only a JPEG of an old design, or an AI-generated image has the wrong text baked in, the usual fix is an afternoon of masking and content-aware fill. IntoLayers turns that into one conversion.
The output is meant to drop straight into an existing workflow. The layered PSD opens in Photoshop, Photopea, Affinity Photo and GIMP, and every layer is also available as its own transparent PNG. You choose how finely to split the image, from 2 layers up to 9 or an Auto mode that decides between 2 and 17, and pay per layer in credits. The site is candid about limits: anything hidden behind another element has to be guessed, so covered areas should be checked before you move things around.
Upload one PNG or JPEG of up to 10MB. Your first conversion at 1K with 2 layers runs without an account and can be downloaded.
Choose the output size and number of layers. The size tiers are 1K (about 1 megapixel), 1.5K and 2K (about 4 megapixels). With 2 layers you get a rebuilt background plus one layer holding the separated elements; choose 3, 5, 7 or 9 layers, or Auto, to put text, subjects and graphics on layers of their own. The size menu shows the credits per layer so you know the cost before running.
Click convert. The model separates the elements, names each layer, fills in the gaps in the base layer, and keeps every layer's bounding box and stacking order so the stack reassembles to a close match of the original.
Download the result as a single layered PSD, or as a ZIP of transparent PNGs, one per layer, and continue editing in your usual design tool.
- •Automatic layer separation - AI splits a flat image into a rebuilt background plus separate layers for text blocks, subjects and graphics, each with a readable name such as Main headline text.
- •Background reconstruction - The base layer is your image with every separated element removed and the gaps filled, so you can move or replace elements without leaving holes.
- •Layered PSD export - Download the whole stack as one PSD in the correct order and position, compatible with Photoshop, Photopea, Affinity Photo and GIMP, or as individual transparent PNGs.
- •Adjustable layer count - Choose 2, 3, 5, 7 or 9 layers, or let Auto pick between 2 and 17, depending on how granular the edit needs to be.
- •Small-element enlargement - When splitting into 3 or more layers, small elements are enlarged according to how small they are, so tiny text stays sharp on its own layer.
- •Credits by layer and size - Pay 5 credits per layer at 1K, 8 at 1.5K and 10 at 2K, from a free daily allowance, a monthly plan, or one-time packs that never expire.
Designers working from a client's flat JPG use IntoLayers to recover an editable file when the original is gone, so they can change a date, a price or a size without remasking the whole design. AI image creators use it to fix the wrong text or a misplaced element in a generated image without regenerating everything else.
Animators and motion designers cut a finished character into body, props and gear layers before rigging, keeping in mind that parts hidden behind other parts are reconstructed guesses. Marketers and social media teams reuse old posters, banners and ads by pulling text onto its own layer for localisation and new campaigns.
Occasional users can work within the free first conversion and daily check-in credits, while designers splitting images every week will want the Starter or Pro plan for 2K output and up to 9 layers.
