Willow Voice
AI voice dictation that works in any app
About Willow Voice
Willow (marketed as Willow Voice) is an AI voice dictation app for Mac, Windows and iPhone. You place your cursor in any text field, hold a hotkey and speak, and Willow types formatted text where the cursor is. It is aimed at people who write a lot of messages, emails, documents and AI prompts and would rather talk than type. The vendor says it is used by more than 150,000 professionals and positions it as a faster, more accurate replacement for the dictation built into the operating system.
The difference from plain speech-to-text is the cleanup step. Willow removes filler words, adds punctuation and formats the result, and it uses context to get names, terms and tone right. It keeps a dictionary that learns names, product terms and abbreviations, and it adapts to how you write in different apps. A second feature, Willow Scribe, goes further: you describe what you want to say in rough form and it drafts the full message in your style. The vendor claims text appears in as little as 200ms and that it is 3x more accurate than built-in dictation. There is a free Basic plan on a smaller speech model, and paid plans for individuals and teams. Willow Care, Inc. is the company behind it.
You install the desktop app on Mac or Windows, or the iPhone app, which works as a keyboard. Then you click into any text field, such as Slack, Gmail, Cursor, Notion or iMessage. You press and hold your hotkey and speak naturally, without thinking about punctuation, formatting or filler words. When you let go, the formatted text appears at the cursor, with no copying, pasting or app switching.
Willow Scribe works from a hotkey too. You place the cursor where you want to write and say what you want, in one sentence. Scribe reads the app and the surrounding context, then drafts the complete email, message or reply in your voice. To reply to a conversation, you say how you want to respond and it writes from what is on screen. To edit, you highlight text and say what to change: shorten it, change the tone, add details or rewrite it in place.
Upgrading happens inside the app under Plan and Billing, and teams sign up through a separate Willow Teams workspace.
- •Dictation in any app - Willow works in any text field on Mac, Windows and iPhone. Hold the hotkey, speak and release, and the text lands where your cursor is. Android is listed as coming soon on the pricing page.
- •Smart formatting and context - It removes filler words, fixes punctuation and formats the text automatically, and it uses the app context to get names, terms and tone right. A developer integration reads code context so file names, variables and functions come through correctly.
- •Willow Scribe - An AI writing assistant that turns a spoken intent into a finished email, message or document, writes replies from the conversation on screen, and rewrites selected text on command. The free plan includes 20 Scribe uses a week; paid plans are unlimited.
- •Auto-learning dictionary and shortcuts - Willow remembers names, product terms and abbreviations, learns your writing style per app over time, and lets you save phrases you use often and insert them with a short command.
- •Languages, noise and offline mode - Dictation works in over 100 languages with switching between them, handles whispering, background noise and fast speakers, and has an offline mode that runs on your device without an internet connection.
- •Privacy and compliance - The security page says audio is not stored after transcription, Privacy Mode is on by default and keeps no audio, transcripts or edits, and data is not used to train models without consent. The vendor lists SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA support, and Business and Enterprise plans can enforce zero data retention for a whole team.
Willow is built for people whose work is mostly writing short and medium text: founders and managers answering Slack and email, sales and support teams sending many replies a day, and anyone who writes long prompts for AI tools. The site has dedicated pages for leaders, developers, sales, customer support, lawyers, healthcare and students.
Developers get the code-aware dictation that handles file and function names inside editors like Cursor. Regulated teams such as healthcare and legal are the audience for the Business plan, which enforces privacy mode, SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance, and for Enterprise, which adds SSO, invoice billing and an MSA and DPA.
Individuals can start on the free Basic plan, which offers unlimited dictation on the smaller Frontier Mini model, and move to Pro for the stronger Frontier Pro model and unlimited Scribe. Willow lists discounts on Pro for students, educators, nonprofits and veterans.
