Podcast transcripts from an Apple Podcasts, Spotify or RSS link
About CastTranscript
CastTranscript is a podcast transcript generator built around the link you already have. Paste an Apple Podcasts or Spotify episode link, or a show's RSS feed, and it finds the episode in the publisher's public feed, fetches the same audio file every podcast app plays, and turns it into a timestamped transcript with speaker labels, chapters and show notes. It removes the usual detour of downloading an MP3, converting it and feeding it to a separate speech-to-text tool.
The result is a working document rather than a scrolling caption. Every line is timed to the audio, speakers are separated so quotes are attributed correctly, and the episode is summarised into show notes, key takeaways and chapter markers. You can also upload your own recording for unreleased episodes, private interviews or Spotify-exclusive shows, which have no public feed. Pricing mixes monthly plans with one-time hour packs that never expire, and there is no per-seat fee. The site states it is not affiliated with Apple or Spotify, and the operator is not named on its Terms page.
First, paste an episode link. Apple Podcasts episode and show links, Spotify links for shows that also publish an RSS feed, any RSS feed URL, and direct public MP3 links all work. With a feed, you get a list of recent episodes to pick from. YouTube and TikTok links are not supported.
Second, CastTranscript matches the episode in the show's public RSS feed and downloads the audio from there. If you have the file instead, you can upload MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 2 GB or 3 hours per file, and the audio is prepared in your browser where possible. There is also a live mode that records and transcribes as you speak, with an optional batch refinement pass afterwards.
Third, read, search and export. The editor follows playback, so clicking a sentence plays that moment. You can rename a speaker once and have it change everywhere, use find and replace, and then copy the text or export TXT, Markdown, SRT or WebVTT along with chapters and notes. Usage is charged by media minute, and failed work is refunded.
- •
Link-to-transcript - Paste an Apple Podcasts, Spotify or RSS link and get the episode as text without downloading anything. Audio always comes from the podcast's own public feed.
- •
Timestamps and speaker labels - Every line is timed, with word-level timing when the speech model returns it. Hosts and guests are separated, and renaming a speaker updates the whole transcript.
- •
Chapters and show notes - Each episode gets a summary, key takeaways and timestamped chapter markers that are ready to paste into a show page or newsletter.
- •
Subtitle-ready exports - Export plain text, Markdown with notes, or SRT and WebVTT subtitle files for video clips. SRT and VTT are only offered when the transcript has verified cue timing, so subtitles do not drift.
- •
File upload and live transcription - Upload recordings up to 3 hours, or record live. Live transcription and a later refinement pass are billed as separate passes, and the refinement only runs after you confirm it.
- •
Private by default - Transcripts stay in the owner's workspace, there is no public share URL in this version, and uploaded video is removed after 24 hours. Language is detected automatically.
Writers and journalists can find an exact quote and its timestamp instead of scrubbing through an hour of audio. Podcasters can turn a published episode into show notes, chapters and a transcript page for search and accessibility, and the Creator plan's 20 hours a month covers a weekly show comfortably.
Researchers and students can search interviews and lectures as text and cite the moment something was said. Marketers can pull clips, captions and blog drafts from guest appearances. Language learners can read along with native speakers and replay any sentence. Accessibility is a use case in its own right: deaf and hard-of-hearing listeners get a full, readable version of an episode.
Production teams with a backlog can use the Studio plan or the non-expiring hour packs, which suit uneven workloads and one-off archive projects better than a subscription.
