Edit photos by typing what you want changed
About SparkPix
SparkPix is a browser-based AI photo editor built around one idea: instead of learning layers, masks and healing brushes, you upload a photo and type what you want changed. "Remove the background", "fix the lighting", "make this look like a vintage film photo" or "restore this faded print" are the kinds of instructions it is designed for. The problem it addresses is a familiar one. Most people with a photo that is almost right do not own Photoshop, do not want to spend a weekend on tutorials, and do not want to pay someone for a two-minute edit.
The site is operated by PIXLUME LLC and says it has served more than 800,000 users and 10 million images. Under the hood it gives you a choice of current image models, including GPT Image 2.5, GPT Image 2, NanoBanana Pro and 2, Seedream 5.0 and Grok Imagine, so the same prompt box can be pointed at whichever engine suits the job. Around the free-form editor sits a large catalogue of ready-made templates: professional headshots, old photo restoration, AI-to-real conversion, style transfer, upscaling to 4K and 8K, object and person removal, outfit and background changes. Pricing is credit based, with a free starting allowance, one-time packs that are valid for a year, and a monthly plan for regular users.
You start on the editor page. Upload up to five reference photos, or pick one of the sample images if you just want to try it. Next, type an instruction describing the edit you want, or open a template such as "Restore Faded Photos", "Lawyer Headshot" or "Remove a Person", which fills in a tested prompt for you.
Before generating, you choose the model, the aspect ratio (Auto keeps the original framing) and the output quality, up to 2K. An optional "Enhance Prompt" switch rewrites a short instruction into a more detailed one. Signing in is required to generate.
SparkPix then produces the edited image in a few seconds. Most edits and generations use about 5 credits each, while higher-end models and the headshot tools use more. Credits are only spent on a successful result, and failed generations are refunded automatically. Downloads are full resolution with no watermark, and separate tools handle upscaling, unblurring and batch enhancement when you need a sharper file rather than a new look.
- •
Type-to-edit editor - The core of the product is a single prompt box that edits an existing photo from a plain-language instruction. There is no masking or layer work, and the site emphasises keeping faces recognisable rather than reinventing them.
- •
Choice of image models - The editor lets you switch between several current models, including GPT Image 2.5, NanoBanana Pro, Seedream 5.0 and Grok Imagine. That makes it easy to compare engines on the same photo without signing up to each provider separately.
- •
Photo restoration - Dedicated tools repair scratches, tears, creases, water damage and yellowing, colourise black and white prints, and rebuild degraded images. Templates cover common cases such as Polaroids, wedding photos and military portraits.
- •
Enhance and upscale - Upscalers take images to 4K or 8K, with options for printing, anime artwork and batch jobs, alongside unblur, face enhancement and grain or pixelation fixes. The free plan includes 2 HD upscales every day.
- •
Headshots and AI-to-real - Templates turn casual or dark selfies into professional headshots, and a set of "AI to Real" tools add realistic skin texture and lighting to images that look obviously generated.
- •
Remove and replace - Object, person, text, date stamp, shadow, reflection and glasses removal sit next to background changes, outfit swaps, relighting and reframing, all driven by the same credit balance.
SparkPix is aimed at everyday users rather than professional retouchers. Small business owners and Etsy or marketplace sellers can clean up product photos, swap messy backgrounds and expand images to the aspect ratio a listing needs. Job seekers and professionals can turn an ordinary selfie into a usable LinkedIn or company headshot without booking a photographer.
Families and genealogy hobbyists will get the most from the restoration tools, which repair and colourise old prints in a single step. Social media users and creators can experiment with style transfers, seasonal templates and fun edits from a phone or laptop browser.
Occasional users can stay on the one-time packs, which do not renew and last a year, while people who edit every week will find the $19.99 monthly plan gives the best rate per credit. Anyone who needs pixel-level control, print production or layered files will still want a traditional editor.
