Create graphical abstracts with AI
About GAAbstract
GAAbstract is an AI graphical abstract maker for researchers. You paste your abstract or upload the paper PDF, and the AI identifies the key entities, steps and relationships and drafts a structured scientific schematic in seconds. Many journals ask for a graphical abstract with each submission, and making one usually means hours in PowerPoint or a design tool, redrawn whenever a co-author asks for a change. GAAbstract starts you from an editable draft instead of a blank canvas.
The same credit balance covers a journal cover maker, a scientific poster generator, an AI abstract writer, a figure checker and a Paper Explainer reader. A text-based abstract generation costs 5 credits, and starting from a PDF costs a little more. Credits come from a subscription or from one-time packs valid for a year. New accounts get free credits and the homepage allows one free abstract without sign-up, but free downloads are watermarked, and clean and SVG exports need a paid plan or pack. The site does not name the AI model it uses.
Paste your abstract or upload the PDF. Optionally add a style reference image for the AI to match, an extra prompt, one of seven layout templates (Flow, Comparison, Branching, Matrix, Circular, Timeline or Radial) and a journal image spec such as 300 DPI at 4x2 inches.
Click generate and the AI drafts the graphical abstract in seconds. Review the layout, icons and key message, then edit anything - layout, labels, terminology, icons, colors and wording - or regenerate parts until the figure matches your result.
Export as PNG, JPG or TIFF, or SVG vector on a paid plan, and drop it into Word, LaTeX, PowerPoint or a journal portal.
- •AI Graphical Abstract Maker - Generates a schematic from text or a PDF with seven layout templates, optional style matching and journal image spec presets.
- •Fully Editable Output - Drafts are a starting point, so revisions from co-authors and reviewers do not mean starting over.
- •Journal-Ready Export - 300 DPI raster downloads at standard column widths, plus SVG vector export on paid plans for exact size and DPI requirements.
- •Journal Covers and Posters - A cover maker and a poster generator draw from the same credit balance.
- •Paper Explainer - Highlight a sentence in a paper to get it explained, ask questions answered from the full text, and get a one-page summary card. It is a subscription perk (up to 100 papers a month); free accounts can read one paper and credit packs do not include it.
- •Abstract Writer and Figure Checker - Further tools on the same account for drafting an abstract and checking figures before submission.
GAAbstract is built for researchers, PhD students and postdocs preparing graphical abstracts for journal submissions, and for labs that want a consistent visual style across papers. The figures also work for talks, slides and social media. Researchers who publish in bursts may prefer the year-long packs, while weekly paper readers get more from a subscription because Paper Explainer is only included there. Verified students and teachers can apply for an education discount (currently 40% and 20%), and refunds are available within 7 days if no more than 10% of credits were used.
