About Facetune
Facetune is Lightricks' selfie and portrait editor, built around the specific problem of making a photograph of a face look better without making it look edited. It is the app that made portrait retouching a mainstream phone activity rather than a desktop skill, and it remains the most direct answer to a narrow question: you have a picture of yourself and you want it to look like your best day.
The problem it solves is that general photo editors treat a face as pixels. Sliders for exposure and contrast do nothing useful for skin texture, and the tools that do exist in desktop software demand a level of patience most people will not spend on an Instagram post. Facetune works on facial geometry and skin directly, so the controls are named after what you want rather than what the software does.
Facetune is developed by Lightricks, an Israeli company whose portfolio also includes Photoleap, Videoleap and LTX Studio. It is free to download with a substantial set of free tools, and the full feature set sits behind a VIP subscription with a seven-day trial. Editing without a watermark requires that subscription.
You open a photo from your camera roll and pick a tool rather than a menu. Retouching tools operate on the face the app has detected: smoothing skin, reshaping, adjusting eye colour. The AI tools work differently, generating a new image from your photo rather than adjusting the one you have, which is how the AI Headshot Generator produces a studio-style portrait from an ordinary selfie.
Color analysis and the face shape detector sit apart from editing altogether. They read your photo and tell you which palettes and shapes suit you, which is advice rather than an edit and is aimed at people who want to know what works before they shoot.

Facetune is for people who photograph themselves often and care how those photographs look: creators posting to Instagram and TikTok, anyone assembling a dating profile, and professionals who need a usable headshot without booking a photographer. The AI LinkedIn Headshot in particular targets a job most people solve badly, either by cropping a holiday photo or by paying for a studio session.
It is not a general photo editor. If you want to edit landscapes, product shots or anything without a face in it, Photoleap or a desktop editor will serve you better. It is also a subscription at $25 a month if you pay monthly, which is dear for occasional use - the yearly plan at $77.99 works out at roughly a third of that and is the only sensible option for anyone using it regularly.
