Your style, built around you
About Style Look Lab
Style Look Lab is a personal style site built around two AI tools: a photo-based seasonal color analysis and a hairstyle try-on that previews cuts and colors on your own photo. The problem it targets is the guesswork before a haircut, a dye job or a wardrobe purchase: whether warm or cool shades flatter you, whether a blunt bob or curtain bangs will suit your face, and which colors to reach for in a fitting room. Instead of handing down a verdict, the site frames every result as a reference. Color analysis places you on a 12-season wheel with a confidence score and the neighboring seasons you border, and hairstyle previews are labeled as visual references rather than guaranteed outcomes. Around those two tools sit free utilities that need no sign-up: a five-to-seven question color season quiz, a face shape detector that measures your outline in the browser, an AI apparent-age estimator, body shape and Kibbe body type calculators, hair type and hair porosity quizzes, and a personal style quiz, along with written guides to the 12 seasons, undertones and face shapes.
The analysis method is documented in more detail than is usual for a consumer style app. According to its methodology and about pages, an AI model estimates visible skin, hair and iris colors from one to three photos, including CIELAB values; deterministic rules derive temperature, depth, clarity and contrast from those estimates; and a further AI step suggests a likely season and personal palette. Skin depth is described on the Monk Skin Tone Scale rather than the Fitzpatrick scale, and olive is treated as its own undertone label. The site says it is independent, with no investors, ads or sponsored recommendations, and that photos are processed by third-party AI providers but not used to train its own models or sold. Pricing is pay-as-you-go and the pricing page lists no subscription: the free tools cost nothing, new accounts get 2 free hairstyle looks in total and one free color analysis preview, credit packs cost $5 for 50 credits or $9 for 120 credits, and a Complete Report is a one-time $19 purchase that includes 120 credits. Credits never expire.
For color analysis, you upload one to three clear, front-facing selfies and sign in with Google. An eligible account gets one free preview: a likely season, core traits, its placement on the season wheel, and four wardrobe-core plus two signature colors. If the preview looks useful, you buy the Complete Report for that report, which adds the full palette with HEX codes and wear tips, outfit references for work, weekends, dates, travel and events, makeup shades, hair color and length guidance, glasses frames and jewelry metals, and a section showing the estimated color evidence and the limits of the photo. The clothing emphasis for the week adapts to the weather where you live while the underlying palette stays the same.
For hairstyles, you pick up to four looks from 89 women's and 65 men's styles, optionally give each one of 23 hair colors or keep your own, add one front-facing photo and press Generate. The photo stays in your browser until you do. The first look needs no account; after that you sign in with Google and each look uses 1 credit. Results appear next to your original and are saved to your account, where you can compare them, run another round, download the ones worth showing a stylist or delete any you no longer want. A credit is returned if a generation cannot be completed.

Photo Color Analysis - One to three selfies produce a likely 12-season result with temperature, value and saturation shown as positions on three axes, a confidence score and the neighboring seasons. The report notes when makeup, colored lenses, lighting or filters may have skewed the estimate, and the site states that reported color values are model estimates, not calibrated measurements.
- •
Complete Report - A one-time $19 purchase per report that turns the season into practical guidance: a personal palette with HEX codes, outfit references with copy-paste shopping phrases, makeup for lips, eyes and cheeks, hair, glasses and jewelry recommendations, and AI styling previews. It includes 120 credits for extra try-ons, and the report's own previews do not use them.
- •
Hairstyle AI - A library of 154 hairstyles spanning short cuts, bobs, lobs, shags, long layers, curls, braids and protective styles, updos and bangs. Before-and-after examples on the same face explain what changed and what to look at, with upkeep notes and questions to ask your stylist before you book.
- •
Hair Color Changer and Other Try-Ons - Choose "Keep my hairstyle" to change only the shade, or add one of 23 colors to a new cut. The same credits cover hair color, glasses and brow previews.
- •
Free Style Tools - The color season quiz needs no photo or sign-up, the face shape detector uses MediaPipe landmarks and runs entirely in your browser, and the age estimator returns an apparent age and likely range without storing the photo. Body shape, Kibbe, skin tone, hair type, hair porosity and personal style tools round out the set.
- •
Privacy Controls - Guest looks are deleted within 24 hours, account data can be exported from privacy settings, deletion is handled by support after verification, and the site says it creates no facial-geometry template.
Style Look Lab suits people weighing a visible change who want a reference first: someone considering a pixie cut, curtain bangs or a move from dark brown to ash blonde, who wants to see it on their own face and arrive at the salon with specific questions. It also suits people curious about seasonal color analysis who want a structured photo-based reading with its reasoning shown, and shoppers building a wardrobe around colors that work for them, with outfit references they can paste straight into a store search.
The site was designed with people underserved by older color references in mind, describing skin depth on the 10-point Monk scale and treating olive as a distinct undertone. Anyone who wants to start without paying or signing up can use the color season quiz, face shape detector and other free tools first. It is a consumer tool for individuals aged 18 and over; its terms forbid reselling the analysis as your own service, so it is not built for stylists running client sessions, and it does not claim a validated accuracy rate, so it is best used as a starting point for comparing options in natural light.
