UUScribe
Transcribe audio and video to text with AI
About UUScribe
UUScribe is a browser-based AI transcription tool that turns audio and video recordings into editable text. You upload a file or paste a YouTube link, the AI produces a transcript with speaker labels and timestamps, and you review it online before exporting it as a document, a spreadsheet-friendly CSV or a subtitle file. It is aimed at the everyday jobs where someone needs words on a page rather than a recording: interviews, lectures, meetings, podcasts and video content that has to be searchable, quotable or captioned. Recognition is strongest across 30 primary languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Hindi and Arabic, and the site is upfront that other, less common languages are supported with potentially higher error rates.
UUScribe is developed and operated by UU Studio. Beyond plain transcription it adds a subtitle generator, an audio and video translator that keeps the original transcript next to the translated text, AI summaries and mind maps on paid plans, and a REST API for developers who want to push files in from their own systems. It accepts 22 audio and video formats, handles audio files up to 2 GB and recordings up to 12 hours long on paid plans, and offers a free plan with a monthly minute allowance so you can test accuracy on your own recordings before paying. Guests can even run one task a day without creating an account.
The workflow is three steps. First, you drag and drop an audio or video file into the browser or paste a YouTube URL. Supported formats include MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, MP4, MOV, MKV and WEBM among others. On desktop browsers, video files are converted to audio before upload by default, which keeps uploads smaller and faster; on mobile the original video is uploaded.
Second, the AI transcribes the recording. It applies speaker detection (diarization) and timestamps, and most files finish within minutes. For the most reliable speaker labels UUScribe recommends recordings of two hours or less, which is a quality guideline separate from the 12-hour maximum file length. If you want the result in another language, you choose an output language and the spoken language is detected automatically; the translation runs after the transcript is ready.
Third, you edit and export. The transcript opens in an online editor where you can correct names and terms, then download it as TXT, PDF, DOCX, SRT, CSV or VTT. Free accounts get the basic TXT, SRT and VTT exports, while paid plans unlock all formats. Results stay in your account, and guest results expire after 24 hours unless you sign in to claim them.
- •
Audio and video to text - Converts 14 audio formats (AAC, AMR, AWB, FLAC, M4A, MKA, MP2, MP3, OGA, OGG, OPUS, WAV, WEBA, WMA) and 8 video formats (3GP, MKV, MOV, MP4, MPG, TS, WEBM, WMV) into editable text with automatic speaker labels and timestamps. This covers most recordings people actually have, from phone voice memos to exported meeting videos and lecture captures.
- •
YouTube transcripts - Paste any YouTube URL to get a full transcript with timestamps, plus optional SRT or VTT subtitles. This is useful for research, note-taking and repurposing video content into articles or show notes without downloading the video first.
- •
Subtitle generator - Produces timed subtitles exported as SRT or VTT files that can be uploaded to video platforms and editors. Because the subtitles come from the same editable transcript, you can fix wording once and export clean captions.
- •
Audio and video translator - Transcribes a recording, keeps the original transcript and translates it into another language, with translated text or SRT and VTT subtitles available for download. The site is clear that the output is text and subtitles, not dubbed audio. Translation limits depend on the plan, from one translation per task on Free to unlimited on Max.
- •
AI summaries and mind maps - Paid plans add AI-generated summaries and mind maps on top of the transcript, which helps when you need the gist of a long interview or lecture rather than every word. Higher plans also include priority processing.
- •
REST API and privacy controls - Pro, Max and Pay as you go customers can use a REST API with API-key authentication, multipart file uploads, task management, transcript retrieval and webhook callbacks. Uploads are encrypted in transit and at rest, original audio is kept for 365 days by default with the option to choose a shorter period, and UU Studio states that it does not use customer uploads or transcripts to train AI models.
UUScribe suits journalists and researchers who record interviews and need accurate, speaker-labelled transcripts they can quote from. Students and educators can turn lectures and seminars into searchable notes, and the YouTube option makes it easy to pull text from recorded talks. Podcasters and video creators can generate transcripts for show notes and SRT or VTT captions for accessibility and search, while the translator helps them offer subtitles in another language without re-recording anything.
Business users can transcribe recorded meetings and calls and use the AI summaries to share the key points with people who were not there. Teams working across languages benefit from having the original transcript and the translation side by side. Developers and product teams who need transcription inside their own tools can use the REST API with webhooks instead of building a speech pipeline themselves, and organisations with stricter requirements can contact UU Studio about private deployment and custom integrations. Light users who only transcribe occasionally can stay on the free plan or buy a one-time minute pack instead of a subscription.
