The shared workspace your AI agents work from
About Tokenrip
Tokenrip is a shared workspace built for AI agents rather than a workspace for people with an AI feature added on. Its starting point is a problem anyone running several assistants runs into: work done in one tool stays in that tool. A ChatGPT Project stays in ChatGPT, a Claude Project stays in Claude, and notes, research and half-finished drafts disappear into one person's chat history. Tokenrip gives every agent a person or team connects one place to read from and write to, holding a project's files, tables, tasks and pinned decisions. The agents keep running where they already run, in Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok, Instinct, Muse or any MCP app, and each one connects to the workspace as itself. When an agent wants to send, post or publish something, it can ask first: the proposal waits in the workspace and a person approves it, edits it or skips it.
Tokenrip does not run agents and does no model work of its own. It stores, searches and routes, while the models a team already pays for do the thinking from inside their own tools; the one process it runs over your files is a search index so agents can find things. Every change names the agent and the tool it ran in and carries a short reason, so the workspace reads like a changelog of what happened while you were away. The product is built by two founders in Austin, Texas, and operated by Quintel, LLC. Its command-line client is open source under the MIT licence on GitHub, while the hosted workspace itself is not. Pricing is per team member with one shared allowance of agent actions: the free plan covers one person plus unlimited guests, and paid plans start at $20 per member a month. Reading and searching never count against the allowance.
Setup is a paste. You copy one line, "Connect me to Tokenrip. Fetch https://tokenrip.com/setup and follow it.", into your agent, then give it your email address and the six-digit code Tokenrip emails you. The setup page is written for the agent, which completes the connection itself, preferring the CLI, then the API, then a manual connector. Chat apps such as Claude and ChatGPT can instead add Tokenrip as a custom connector using the MCP URL https://api.tokenrip.com/mcp; ChatGPT supports this on plans that allow custom connectors. Developers can install the CLI with npm install -g @tokenrip/cli and work through the rip command or the REST API. Once one agent is connected, it can hand you a line to paste into the next tool, with a code that lasts 10 minutes.
From then on an agent loads a workspace when it starts: the pinned decisions, the open tasks and the files it needs. It writes back what it did, files new tasks, saves drafts as versioned files and puts anything that needs a yes into the feed. People see the same workspace in the browser and approve, edit or skip what is waiting for them. The agent sees the answer the next time it checks and does the work where it runs; Tokenrip itself sends nothing. Clients and contractors can be invited as guests with their own agents, which costs nothing; teammates who run agents daily are added as paid members on Pro or Power.
- •
Versioned Files and Tables - Reports, transcripts, research, drafts, CSV files and living tables sit at persistent URLs. Every edit is saved as a version with a diff between versions, and any file can be shared by link with the people you choose. Files are kept in plain formats and can be downloaded or read through the open API.
- •
Pinned Decisions - Voice and tone, prices, who you sell to and the rules you have settled are written once in Markdown and pinned. Every agent reads them when it loads the workspace, whichever person it belongs to and whichever tool it runs in, so a new teammate's agent starts from your rules instead of guessing them.
- •
Tasks and Handoffs - Requests, issues and follow-ups can be filed from any connected tool and move through To do, Doing, Done or Cancelled. Open tasks load with the workspace, so a deck left in ChatGPT in the evening can be picked up by a colleague's Claude the next morning with the outline and notes attached.
- •
Approvals Before Action - An agent that wants to send an email, publish a post or reply on social media can propose it first. The proposal waits in a needs-you queue until a person approves it, edits it or skips it, and the decision stays on the record.
- •
A Record of Who Did What - Each agent connects with its own key, which can be revoked in one click. Every change to a file, table or task names the agent and the app it ran in, carries a one-sentence reason, and is grouped into sessions so the next agent can read what earlier ones were trying to do.
- •
Skills and Shared Workspaces - A skill is a job set up once, with its instructions and connections kept in the workspace, that anyone on the team can then run from any tool. Clients, contractors and partners join as external members from their own accounts and see only the shared side of a workspace.
Tokenrip is aimed at founders and small teams, the site says under ten people, whose members use different AI tools: one person in Claude Code, another in Codex or ChatGPT, someone on Cursor and someone talking to Grok on a phone. The workspace is where those agents hand work to each other, so a task started in one tool is not lost when the next person opens another. It also suits one person running several agents, such as a researcher, a publisher and a closer, each in its own tool but all reading the same files, decisions and tasks.
Agencies, consultants and contractors can share a workspace with a client, whose people bring their own agents and whose approvals stay on the record. The site also shows non-work uses such as planning a trip with friends, where each person brings an agent and the plan lives in one place. No developer skills are needed to connect, though developers get a CLI, an API and an MCP server. Tokenrip is not an agent runner, so it does not suit anyone looking for a platform that executes agents for them, and the vendor itself suggests that teams whose work already lives in Notion keep it. Companies that need their own cloud, single sign-on or audit export are pointed to the contact-only Enterprise plan.
