AI clinical assistant, Socratic tutor and medical Q-banks
About iatroX
iatroX is a UK-built AI clinical assistant and medical exam platform founded by Dr Kola Tytler, a general practitioner who trained in London. Its centre is askiatroX, which answers clinical questions in plain language with structured, evidence-based answers anchored in regional guidelines, and named reference pills that link to the guidelines and published evidence. Around it sit adaptive question banks and mock exams, a Socratic AI Tutor, clinical consultation simulations, medicines and guideline reference, 84+ clinical calculators and CPD records.
The founder's stated aim is to cut retrieval friction for clinicians, such as searching five different sources to confirm a single prescribing decision or reading dense guideline documents under time pressure. The methodology page describes query routing, provenance-first retrieval, calibrated synthesis and geography-aware logic rather than generic free-text generation alone, and the site shows the date of its last UK guideline sync. The App Store listing puts it in the Medical category and says 700,000+ questions have been answered in 40+ countries. Ask iatroX and several question banks can be used without paying, and one subscription unlocks the rest.
For clinical questions, you type into askiatroX. It works out what kind of task the question is (a rapid evidence lookup, structured case reasoning, educational support or a follow-up), retrieves and prioritises sources, then returns a concise answer you can expand to see reasoning steps, differential considerations, confidence markers and citations.
For exams, you choose your exam, answer single-best-answer questions, and review explanations with references, for example to a NICE guideline. After answering, you can open a Tutor session that asks you questions back to find the gap in your reasoning, or ask it for a direct explanation, then save the insight as a basic or cloze card for Anki.
For consultation practice, you run a clinical simulation in voice or text where supported and get an evidence-linked feedback report, the transcript and a Tutor follow-up.

iatroX is aimed at doctors, trainees and medical students. It started in the UK, and its App Store listing says it is used by clinicians and trainees across the UK, US, Canada, Australia and Italy. GPs and hospital doctors can use askiatroX to refresh guideline details in clinic, while trainees preparing for UKMLA, MRCGP AKT and other exams can use the question banks, Tutor and simulations. International doctors have a dedicated section of the site.
The founder describes it as a single platform with a regulated UK clinical-reference component. Anyone can try 10 exam questions a day without an account, and the subscription is one price for every paid bank, the Tutor, study planning and simulations.
