Flashcard Maker
Turn your notes into AI flashcards and study sets
About Flashcard Maker
Flashcard Maker is a web app at flashcardmaker.me that turns your own study material into flashcards with AI. You paste lecture notes or textbook passages, type a topic, give it a URL, or import a PDF or Word file, and it identifies the key concepts and writes question-and-answer pairs. The site says it accepts text in any language, from biology to history to foreign vocabulary, and that generation takes a few seconds.
The aim is to remove manual card writing. Text and topics work without signing up, while PDF and Word imports need a free account, and the first import and first Anki or CSV export are free. Cards can be reviewed and edited before you study, and document imports include source excerpts so you can check them against the original. Beyond generation, the app has quiz and flip-card modes, audio learning, spaced repetition and progress stats, plus a marketplace and community of ready-made decks.
Start by choosing a source: paste text, enter a topic, give a URL, or pick a PDF or Word file. You choose how many cards you want, from 3 up to 100, though free use shows the first 10 cards of each deck.
Click Generate and the AI reads the material and writes the cards. You then check the questions and answers, edit any that are wrong, and save the deck to your account.
Finally you study the deck with quiz mode, flip cards or audio, while spaced repetition schedules reviews so you return to cards at the right time. A stats view tracks your progress, and decks can be exported to Anki or CSV.
- •Several input types - Notes, topics, URLs and PDF or Word documents can all become a deck. URL import is limited to 3 a month on the free plan and open on Pro.
- •Editable cards - Every generated card can be reviewed and edited, and document imports carry source excerpts for checking.
- •Study modes - Quiz mode, flip-card mode and audio learning, with basic quizzes on the free plan and advanced quiz modes on Pro.
- •Spaced repetition and stats - Built-in spaced repetition schedules reviews, and a stats page tracks mastery over time.
- •AI chat assistant - An assistant for questions about your material, listed on both the free and Pro plans.
- •Ready-made decks and export - A marketplace of 35+ ready-made decks, a community area, a daily quiz, and Anki or CSV export.
Flashcard Maker is built for students who already have notes or chapter text and want a deck quickly: high school and university students, people preparing for exams such as the NCLEX, MCAT, GRE or TOEFL (the site has dedicated pages for these), and language learners building vocabulary sets. It also has a page aimed at teachers.
Occasional users can stay on the free plan or buy one-time PDF import packs. Students studying all term can take Pro, monthly or annual, and someone preparing for a single exam can buy the 3-month Exam Pass, which does not renew. The site notes that student and regional plans differ, so the price shown at checkout may vary by country.
