AnswerDojo
The AI mock interview for the exact company and role you are chasing
About AnswerDojo
AnswerDojo is an AI mock interview coach built for new graduates preparing for software, data and product interviews. You pick the company and role you are applying to, then sit a live voice interview with an AI interviewer that asks questions out loud, listens to your spoken answer and follows up on what you actually said. When the session ends you get a score and feedback on where your answer was thin. The problem it targets is specific: most new grads can deliver a rehearsed first answer about a project, but freeze on the second and third follow-up ("why not just use Redis?", "what would you do differently at ten times the traffic?"). Reading sample answers or flashcards does not train that, and practising with a friend depends on the friend knowing what a given company tests. AnswerDojo describes itself as a simulator rather than a question bank: it runs the whole conversation, including the follow-ups a static list cannot throw at you.
It is a practice tool, not a live interview assistant. Everything happens in a rehearsal session before the real interview, and the site positions itself as replacing silent rehearsal rather than the real interviewer. Mocks are calibrated to real job postings from companies such as Amazon, Google, Netflix, Brex, Databricks, Reddit and ElevenLabs, and each posting page lists what that interview tests and the common question themes. Alongside the mocks, an interview experiences library retells candidates' public write-ups of real loops round by round, with sources, and a set of guides covers HireVue-style one-way video interviews. The interface is available in English and Japanese. Pricing is freemium: a lifetime free quota of 2 voice mocks, a $19 one-time 7-Day Sprint for a single upcoming interview, and a Pro plan at $29 a month or $99 a year.
You start by choosing the interview. The Pick your interview page lists real openings by company, role and level, each with a short summary of what it tests; if your posting is not listed, you can paste the job description and the mock calibrates to it.
Next you add your experience. You can upload an existing PDF or Word resume and AnswerDojo pulls out the stories, or start from scratch by answering a few guided questions so it can draft your first resume story. It turns each project or experience into a story you can practise and drafts the questions that story is likely to attract. A resume is optional: you can pick a role and start talking, but adding one lets the interviewer weave your actual experience into the questions.
Then you join the live voice mock. The AI interviewer asks a question, you answer out loud, your speech is transcribed, and the interviewer follows up on the specifics of your answer with no script and no skipping ahead. Behavioral and project deep-dive rounds ("tell me about a project", "walk me through what you did") are the core use case.
Finally you review the result. Each session ends with a score and focused feedback, with sub-scores such as depth, structure and specifics shown in the product preview. You refine the weak story and run the mock again until your answers hold up at the second and third layer of follow-ups.
- •
Live Voice Mock Interviews - The interviewer speaks its questions and listens to spoken answers rather than offering typing or multiple choice. Answering out loud is treated as the skill being trained, since saying an answer is different from thinking it, and every mock is driven by follow-ups on what you just said.
- •
Role-Calibrated Interviews from Real Postings - Mocks are built from real job postings, so a Google software engineer mock and an Amazon SDE mock test different things. Each posting page lists the areas the interview tests (for example backend system design, data modeling and end-to-end ownership for a Brex backend role) and the common question themes, and you can paste any job description that is not in the library.
- •
Resume to Story Builder - Upload a resume or answer guided questions and AnswerDojo extracts practisable stories from your real experience, drafts the likely questions for each, and offers story optimizations to tighten them before you practise.
- •
Score and Feedback After Every Session - Each run ends with a score out of 10 and pointed feedback on what to strengthen. Paid plans add a detailed debrief after every run. The site stresses that the bar is the same every time, so a changing score reflects a changing answer rather than an interviewer's mood.
- •
Interview Experiences Library - Real interview stories retold from candidates' public write-ups, with sources, describe processes round by round: the online assessments, the number and length of rounds, the questions asked and whether the candidate got an offer. Each company page links its experiences to the roles you can practise.
- •
HireVue and One-Way Video Prep - A dedicated HireVue practice page and guides explain how one-way video interviews work and how to prepare, and the mocks can be used to rehearse timed spoken answers to behavioral prompts. AnswerDojo states it is not affiliated with HireVue, Inc.
AnswerDojo is aimed squarely at new graduates and early-career candidates interviewing for software engineering, data and product roles, especially those who have a strong project on their resume but struggle when an interviewer digs into the reasoning behind it. Computer science students preparing for new-grad loops at large tech companies can use the experiences library to see what a given company's process looks like and then rehearse the behavioral and project deep-dive rounds against an interviewer that keeps asking why.
Candidates facing a single upcoming interview are the audience for the 7-Day Sprint, which covers 10 voice mocks over a week without a subscription. Those running a full interview season across many applications are the target for Pro, with 20 voice mocks a month. Applicants who have received a HireVue or other one-way video invite can use the mocks to practise speaking structured STAR answers under time pressure before the recording counts.
It is less suited to pure coding-round preparation: the product focuses on spoken behavioral and project deep-dive interviews rather than live coding environments, and the free quota is small (2 voice mocks for life), so serious users will likely need a paid plan.
