ForgeSprite
AI sprite generator for 2D game art
About ForgeSprite
ForgeSprite is an AI game asset generator for static 2D art: props, inventory items, ability icons, character concepts, scenes and textures. You describe what you need in a brief, optionally add a reference image, and an agent turns it into a plan with a credit quote before any image is generated. For a set, it makes one sample first so you can check the style before the rest is produced, which is how it tries to keep a collection consistent in viewpoint, palette and outline. Finished assets export as PNG files, ZIP packages or texture atlases to import into a game engine.
The site is unusually specific about what it does not do. The current workflow produces still images only; it does not create walk cycles, new viewing directions, in-between poses, rigs or automatic engine integration, and it says a requested size such as 64 x 64 is a design target rather than a guaranteed native pixel size. Alongside the AI studio sit free browser utilities for art you already have: a sprite sheet maker, a sprite sheet cutter, GIF to sprite sheet and back, and a pixel art resizer, all of which run locally without sign-in or credits. Generation runs on third-party image models, from Seedream 5.0 Lite on the free allowance to Nano Banana 2, FLUX.2 Pro, Nano Banana Pro and GPT Image 2.5 on paid plans. The service is new, with terms dated September 2026 that identify it only as ForgeSprite with a support address. Pricing is a monthly credit subscription, with a one-time credit pack for occasional use.
You can start without an account: eligible new visitors get 10 welcome credits in a guest session, and signing in with Google adds 20 more once and carries guest projects and credits over. In the composer you write a brief of up to 4,000 characters, naming the objects and their art direction such as viewpoint, palette, outline weight, lighting and relative scale, and attach a PNG, JPEG or WebP reference if you have one. The character and pixel art pages prefill choices such as role, viewpoint and art style, and example cards like a farming item set or cozy cafe props fill the composer without starting a paid task.
Sending the brief to the agent costs 1 planning credit. The agent replies with a plan and an image credit quote that you confirm before anything is generated; image costs depend on the model, from 5 credits for Seedream 5 to 16 for Nano Banana Pro. For a collection, generation starts with a sample, and approving it authorizes the remaining work within the accepted plan. To change one asset, open the version in Studio, choose Edit this version, paint the area and describe the change; earlier versions stay available. When you are happy, select the versions to export as PNGs, a ZIP or an atlas, then check dimensions, transparency and scale in your engine. Failed plans and undelivered images return their credits.
- •
Brief-to-Plan Agent with Credit Quotes - Each request to the agent costs 1 credit and returns a plan to review before generation, including when it replies with a clarifying question. You see the exact image credit total before confirming, while opening an existing plan, saving a draft and using the direct pixel tools cost nothing.
- •
Sample-First Asset Sets - For collections such as an RPG inventory or a skill icon set, ForgeSprite generates a sample first. You check it at its intended display size and give a concrete correction, such as thicker outlines or light from the upper left, before the remaining assets are made from the same shared brief.
- •
Selected-Area Editing and Exact Recolor - Paint the part of an existing version you want changed and describe the edit, or leave the selection empty to apply it to the whole image. Exact color replacement maps known colors to new ones and saves a new version, which suits simple palette swaps; nearby shades need their own mappings.
- •
Image Models by Plan - Free generation uses Seedream 5.0 Lite. Starter adds Nano Banana 2 and FLUX.2 Pro, while Pro and Max unlock all six models, including Nano Banana Pro and both GPT Image 2.5 options. Higher plans also process more images at once (one on Starter, two on Pro, four on Max) and get higher queue priority.
- •
Free Sprite Sheet and Pixel Utilities - The Sprite Sheet Maker packs up to 256 existing PNG frames into an equal-cell grid or tight layout and exports PNG, frame JSON and a ZIP. The cutter splits a sheet back into named frames, two converters move between GIFs and sheets, and the pixel art resizer enlarges sprites by 2x, 3x, 4x or 8x without smoothing. They run in the browser with no sign-in and no credits, and the site notes that packing frames does not create animation.
- •
Export, Rights and Safety Checks - Assets export as PNG, ZIP or texture atlas, and the guides cover checking pixel edges, dimensions and alpha over light and dark backgrounds before import. The terms let you use outputs in personal or commercial projects without claiming ownership of them, and automated checks screen prompts before generation and images before delivery.
ForgeSprite is aimed at indie game developers and small teams who need static 2D art, such as inventory items, props, ability icons, character concepts and scene pieces, faster than they can draw or commission it, and who want a set that shares one viewpoint and palette. The guest credits and the example briefs let a developer test the workflow on a small set before paying.
Pixel artists and developers who already have frames are a second audience, since the sprite sheet maker, cutter, GIF converters and resizer are free and run locally. Solo developers producing assets steadily can take Starter or Pro for a monthly credit budget, while teams in heavier production can use Max for 8,000 credits a month and four images processing at once; occasional users can buy a credit pack that never expires instead. It is not the tool for animation: anyone who needs walk cycles, rigs or character turnarounds will still need an animator or another tool.
