SubMac
The resume tailor that never lies for you
About SubMac
SubMac is an AI resume tailor that rewrites your resume for a specific job ad so it gets past applicant screening software, while refusing to invent anything. You paste the job description and your resume, and SubMac produces a version that covers the keywords the employer is looking for using only what you have actually done. Its tagline, "the resume tailor that never lies for you", is the point of the product: many AI resume tools pad experience or make up achievements, which can backfire badly in an interview. SubMac checks every line against your original and leaves out anything it cannot prove.
The service launched in October 2026 and charges per result rather than per month. The match score is always free, every account gets two free watermarked previews of a tailored resume, and unlocking the clean PDF and Word files costs $1 for a single resume or $5 for a Job Hunt Pack of three resumes and three cover letters. There is no subscription and credits do not expire. Alongside the tailor, SubMac offers a set of free browser-based job search tools.
The process takes about two minutes. First you paste the full job ad, copied from LinkedIn, Indeed or a company careers page; the more complete the description, the better the match.
Second, you add your resume by uploading a PDF or Word file or pasting the text. For the free match score the file is read in your browser, with no sign-up required, and you get a score out of 100 along with the keywords from the ad that your resume already covers and the ones it is missing.
Third, you sign in to see your tailored resume as a free, watermarked preview, together with a report of what was changed and why and any honest gaps between your experience and the role. If you like the result, you pay to download the ready-to-send PDF and Word files. If you do not have a resume yet, a separate mode asks you one question at a time and writes a resume from your answers, again without inventing anything.
- •
Never Invents Experience - Employers, job titles, dates and degrees are copied from your resume, and any numbers come from you. A vague line such as "helped with social media" can become a specific one, but only with figures you supplied.
- •
Free Match Score - Score your resume against any job ad out of 100, with found and missing keywords listed. It runs in the browser and needs no account.
- •
Change Report with Honest Gaps - Each tailored resume comes with an explanation of what was changed and why, plus the requirements in the ad that your experience does not cover, so you know where you stand before applying.
- •
Before and After Scores - You see how the match score moves after tailoring, which makes it easy to judge whether a rewrite is worth paying for.
- •
Templates and Formats - Downloads come as PDF and Word files, with 12 templates split between 6 ATS-safe designs and 6 more stylish ones. The Job Hunt Pack adds a cover letter written for each company.
- •
Free Job Search Tools - A job finder, an ATS format checker that flags tables, columns, scanned PDFs and headers screening software cannot read, a typing speed test, a word counter and PDF tools are all free and run in the browser.
SubMac is built for job seekers applying to several roles who want each application tailored without spending an evening rewriting their resume for every ad. It suits people worried about ATS filters rejecting a strong candidate on missing keywords, and it particularly suits anyone uneasy about AI tools that embellish experience, since every claim stays traceable to their own history. Career changers can use the gap report to see which requirements they genuinely do not meet yet. Students and first-time applicants without a resume can build one through the question-by-question mode. Because there is no subscription, it also fits people who apply in short bursts and do not want another monthly charge: one tailored resume costs $1.
