About kdpbook.io
kdpbook.io is an AI book studio built specifically for Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). You describe a book in a sentence, or import a manuscript you already wrote, and it plans, writes, illustrates and lays out the book, then exports the files KDP asks for: an interior PDF, a full-wrap cover PDF, a Kindle eBook (EPUB) and a listing sheet with title, description and keywords. The problem it targets is the gap between generating text or images with a general AI assistant and actually having a book that passes KDP's print rules. Trim size, margins that grow with page count, bleed on the right edges, a spine sized to paper and page count, and a cover that wraps exactly are all handled in code rather than left to the author.
The product covers 36 book types in 8 families (picture books, illustrated stories, novels and chapter books, non-fiction and guides, coloring books, activity and puzzle books, journals and notebooks, and comics and graphic novels), 61 illustration styles, and 34 languages that KDP publishes. Characters are locked on reference sheets so the same hero appears consistently from cover to last page. Pricing is credit-based: every book gets a credit estimate before launch, the estimate is held, and only what is actually produced is charged, with the rest released automatically. A 32-page picture book with 14 illustrations is quoted at about 1,614 credits. kdpbook.io is made by THE VIBECODING AGENCY in Paris, opened to the public in September 2026, and is not affiliated with Amazon.
You start in one of two ways: type an idea in plain words (for example, a bedtime picture book for a four-year-old), or bring your own manuscript as a Word file, PDF, Markdown or plain text. When you import a manuscript, kdpbook.io keeps your words as written and only splits the text into chapters or pages for layout; it does not rewrite, drop or add words.
Next you pick a book type and an art style. The book type sets sensible defaults: where images go, how much text fits on a page, and which trim sizes, paper types and page counts KDP accepts for that format. You can choose one of the 61 illustration styles, describe your own, or upload a reference image. An optional planning chat lets you shape the story before generation.
Before launch the app shows a line-by-line credit estimate for pages, words, illustrations and cover. Once you start, the book builds page by page: the story plan and character bible, the writing, character sheets, illustrations and the cover all appear as they are made, and every step and credit is logged. Failed illustrations are retried automatically at no extra cost.
When generation finishes you edit fonts, text and images with a live preview, use AI rewrite on individual passages, or ask the in-editor book assistant for changes. A KDP preflight checks the layout against the documented rules for your trim, ink, paper and page count, a 3D preview shows the finished book with a correctly sized spine, and you export the interior PDF, cover PDF, Kindle EPUB and listing sheet to upload to your own KDP account.
- •Idea or manuscript in, KDP files out - A single project goes from a one-sentence prompt or an imported manuscript to an interior PDF, a full-wrap cover PDF (back, spine and front sized from the final page count), a Kindle eBook in reflowable or fixed layout with its Kindle cover, and a listing sheet with title, description, 7 keywords, categories and AI-disclosure answers. Coloring, puzzle, activity, journal and notebook books are print only and have no Kindle file. Exports never cost credits.
- •36 book types with layouts that fit them - Picture books, baby and ABC books, early readers, novels, middle-grade and YA fiction, poetry, cookbooks, memoirs, self-help, devotionals, kids and adult coloring books, puzzle books with answer keys, educational workbooks, guided journals, planners and comics with typeset dialogue. Each type starts from page layouts and trim sizes suited to it.
- •61 illustration styles with consistent characters - Styles range from watercolor storybook and mid-century to claymation, 3D animated film, risograph, manga and photo-real. Each illustration is painted with your character sheet as a reference, so main characters look the same across every page, and Author plans add a series and character library for reuse across books.
- •Built-in KDP rulebook and preflight - The layout engine applies a maintained rulebook of KDP print and Kindle requirements: inside margins that grow with page count, 0.125 in bleed when art touches the edge, spine width from paper and page count, page limits per ink and paper, spine text only when the spine can hold it, a clear barcode area on the back cover, and 300 DPI print-grade files. Anything that needs attention is flagged before export.
- •Live editor with AI rewrite and book assistant - After generation you can change fonts, text and images with a live preview, rewrite passages with AI, or chat with a book assistant inside the editor. A 3D preview built from the real cover lets you turn the book around and read it page by page before printing.
- •Transparent credit estimates - Every book shows an itemised estimate before launch. Credits are held at launch (with up to 5% headroom), charged per page, illustration and cover as they are produced, and anything unused is released back to your balance, including when you cancel. The site also offers free KDP calculators for trim sizes, spine width, cover size, printing cost and royalties.
kdpbook.io is aimed at independent authors and self-publishers who want to put books on Amazon KDP without learning print formatting. Parents, teachers and hobby writers making a children's picture book or a bedtime story collection can go from an idea to a printed, illustrated paperback with consistent characters, and the free credits cover a default 32-page picture book to try it.
Authors who already have a finished manuscript can use the import path to get a properly typeset interior, a cover sized to the page count and a Kindle file, without the tool changing their text. Non-fiction writers, coaches and small business owners can turn expertise into a guide, business book or cookbook, and memoir writers can shape family history into a finished book.
Low-content and activity book publishers get puzzle books, coloring books, workbooks and guided journals, where code-generated puzzle and template pages cost very little in credits. Higher-volume publishers on the Studio plan can run several books at once and use bulk export.
It is less suited to anyone looking for Amazon market or keyword research: the site states that it does not provide search-volume data. KDP reviews every book itself and requires disclosure of AI-generated text and images, so authors still need to declare AI content when publishing (the export sheet tells you what to declare). Free-plan exports are watermarked and not licensed for sale; a paid plan is needed to publish commercially.
