O.Translator
Translate documents, keep their layout
About O.Translator
O.Translator is an online AI document translator built around one promise: translate the document and keep its layout. You upload a PDF, Word file, PowerPoint deck, EPUB or another of its 50+ supported formats, choose a target language from more than 100, and download a translated file in which headings, tables and images stay where they were. It is aimed at the material that falls apart when you paste it into a general translation box: academic papers, business reports, technical manuals, presentations and e-books.
The problem it solves is reformatting. Copying text out of a PDF, translating it and rebuilding the document by hand can take longer than the translation itself, and generic tools often scramble columns, tables and figure captions. O.Translator combines AI language models with document parsing, OCR and layout processing, so the translated text is placed back into the original structure. The site reports more than 4 million documents translated and more than 2 million users, and the service is run by Office Translator, Inc., a company based in Delaware, USA.
What sets it apart from subscription translators is the billing model and the preview step. Pricing is pay-as-you-go: translation is billed in credits based on tokens, a document analysis fee and the selected mode, with no monthly fees or contracts, and purchased credits never expire. Before you pay for a full translation you can check a partial preview of the translated layout and review the task quote, so you know what a document will cost and how it will look before committing. Two modes cover most needs: Standard for everyday documents, and Professional, which uses advanced models for papers, contracts and reports that need more context and terminology control. The site is also candid about limits: layout preservation depends on the file, font and text length, and complex tables, scanned pages and text in images may need manual review.
The workflow is three steps. First, upload your document and choose the target language and the translation mode. Single documents can be up to 1GB, and the format list runs from MS Office, WPS and OpenOffice files to Adobe PDF, InDesign and Illustrator files, e-books, comics, subtitles, code resource files and plain text.
Second, review the preview and the quote. O.Translator translates part of the document so you can check terminology, tone and layout, and the task page shows the cost in credits before you continue. The preview scope depends on the document and your account allowance, and if a preview itself requires credits, that cost is shown first. Pricing follows a simple formula: a 1-credit document analysis base fee plus translation charged per token, so a 15,000 token document in Standard mode costs 1 + 5 = 6 credits. When the exact word count cannot be calculated in advance, as with scanned files, OCR mode estimates tokens instead: 1,200 tokens per scanned PDF page and 500 tokens per image inside DOCX or PPTX files.
Third, confirm the task to translate the full document and download the result when it is ready. Your document is processed by the selected third-party AI provider to produce the translation. Unpaid documents are deleted automatically 15 days after the task was created and paid documents after 30 days, and you can also delete tasks yourself from your translation history.

Layout-Preserving Document Translation - Headings, tables and images are preserved in supported formats to cut the reformatting work after translation. Supported files include doc, docx, rtf, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx and vsdx, WPS files, pdf, ai, indd and idml, OpenOffice documents, epub and chm e-books, and txt, md, csv, xliff and po files among others, covering more than 50 formats in total.
- •
Scanned Document OCR - OCR extracts text from scanned PDFs and images so they can be translated too. Recognition depends on scan quality and layout, an enhanced recognition option exists for pages that are hard to read, and the preview is the place to catch missing or misread text before paying for the whole file.
- •
Standard and Professional Modes - Standard translation costs 1 credit per 3,000 tokens and suits most daily documents. Professional translation costs 1 credit per 1,000 tokens, roughly three times Standard, and uses advanced models for academic papers, legal contracts and business reports that need better contextual understanding and terminology precision. You can query the supported models and choose per document.
- •
Glossary and Online Editing - A glossary keeps brand names and specialist terms consistent across a document, and the translation can be edited online afterwards to suit your audience, so a final review does not require exporting and re-importing files.
- •
Team Sharing and Enterprise Edition - Teams can share translation projects and glossaries so reviewers work in the same context. The Enterprise Edition adds storage in an enterprise-selected secure environment, integration of the company's own or designated AI and OCR models, API access for internal systems, member quota allocation, permission control and per-member translation analytics, with unlimited user accounts.
- •
More Than Documents - The product menu also covers academic paper translation from arXiv, comic translation, audio and video subtitle translation, a flexible text translation tool, and a Translation API with a developer center for building document translation into your own software.
O.Translator suits researchers and students who need to read or share academic papers in another language without losing figures and table structure. The Professional mode and the arXiv translation option are aimed directly at that use.
Business users are a second audience: teams translating reports, presentations, spreadsheets and contracts for colleagues or clients abroad, where a document that arrives reformatted reflects badly on the sender. The glossary and online editing help keep product names and legal terms consistent, and the quote shown before payment makes costs predictable for one-off jobs.
It also fits publishers, translators and readers working with e-books in EPUB, creators translating comics or subtitle files, and anyone who translates documents occasionally and does not want another monthly subscription, since credits are bought in packs and never expire. Larger organizations with compliance requirements can look at the Enterprise Edition, which keeps documents in a designated storage environment and lets administrators allocate quotas and review usage per member.
