Pocket Invoice
Create invoices and estimates from your AI assistant through an MCP server
About Pocket Invoice
Pocket Invoice is a hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that connects a compatible AI assistant to the FreedomInvoice backend, turning invoicing into something you do by typing a sentence in your chat rather than clicking through an app. Instead of opening an invoicing dashboard, a freelancer or small business tells their assistant "invoice Acme $500 for website design, due in 14 days" and Pocket Invoice calculates the total, assigns the number and saves a PDF-ready document in the connected account. It targets the growing set of users who already live inside an AI assistant and want their back-office tasks to happen there too, without copy-pasting between tools.
The connection is built on OAuth and Streamable HTTP, with Codex tested as a client and any assistant supporting those standards able to connect. The design is deliberately cautious about money and sending: the assistant can draft documents, generate PDFs, manage clients and items, read unpaid balances and record received payments, but it cannot take a card payment, transfer funds or issue a refund, and sending starts disabled with every send requiring explicit confirmation. Documents share the same account and company records as the existing Web, iOS and Android apps, so an AI-created invoice is a first-class record rather than a side copy.
Sign in to a Pocket Invoice (FreedomInvoice) account, or create one on the web. In your AI assistant, add a custom MCP server pointing at the hosted endpoint, choosing Streamable HTTP as the type, then authenticate through OAuth and grant the permissions you want for one company. Once connected, you describe the work in plain language - the customer, the items, the amounts and the due date - and the assistant creates the invoice, estimate or purchase order against your real records. Ask it to generate a PDF using your saved logo and template, review the document and recipients, and only then confirm a send. You can also ask for unpaid balances, a sales summary over a date range, or record a received payment, all from the same conversation.
- •Natural-language invoicing - Describe a customer, items and prices in a sentence and the assistant drafts the invoice, estimate or purchase order against your actual account records.
- •PDF generation with your branding - Documents render with your saved logo, company details and template, returning a download link and a web preview.
- •Confirmed sending only - Sending starts disabled and each email requires you to review the recipients and confirm in chat, so nothing goes out automatically.
- •Client and item management - Find or update saved clients, products and stock through the assistant, keeping the same records the apps use.
- •Read-only money controls - The assistant can read balances and record received payments but cannot charge a card, move funds or issue refunds.
- •Standards-based connection - OAuth plus Streamable HTTP means any compatible assistant (Codex is the tested client) can connect, with per-company permissions you control and can revoke.
Perfect for freelancers who already draft and manage work inside an AI assistant and want invoicing to live there too, small-business owners who prefer a sentence to a dashboard, and trades and service businesses that invoice from the field. Developers evaluating MCP integrations will find a well-scoped example of connecting an assistant to a real financial backend with explicit permissions and confirmation gates. Existing FreedomInvoice users gain a conversational front end over the same records their web and mobile apps already use.
