Novastart
An infinite canvas OS for AI agents and teams
About Novastart
Novastart describes itself as an infinite canvas OS: a desktop environment where every app you use opens as a window on a zoomable canvas instead of hiding behind tabs. Zoom out to see everything at once, zoom in to work in a single window. The problem it targets is running out of room - juggling stacked windows, lost tabs and separate setups for different parts of life or work. Novastart lets you keep a separate canvas for each project, such as finances, a wedding, a trip or a job, and saves every app, position and tab so a workspace is exactly where you left it the next day. Its distinguishing ideas are that AI agents operate on the same canvas with visible cursors, and that teammates share the canvas itself rather than a screen.
Pricing has three plans that all start from the same download and open the same apps. Free is limited to 1 folder, 2 canvases and 4 windows. Pro costs $10 per month and removes those limits with unlimited folders, canvases and windows. Team costs $20 per month and adds Team Collaboration. AI agents are billed separately on every plan at $0.02 per use, with credits from $25, so agent usage is paid for independently of the plan you choose.
You install Novastart and open apps from the dock, and each one lands as a window on a blank canvas. You arrange windows spatially, group work into folders and canvases, and zoom between an overview and a single task. To hand a job to AI, you ask a lead agent in chat. In the site's example of planning a ski trip, the lead drafts a plan with one task per helper, opens a window for each part of the job in a grid beside your own notes, and assigns a named, color-coded helper agent to each window. You can type a correction mid-run and the agents adjust without restarting, or pause all of them at once. Helpers report back to the lead, which combines their results, and a separate check reviews a fresh screenshot before the job is marked done. For teamwork, people join a shared canvas where each person has their own cursor and can move or edit windows at the same time.
- •Infinite canvas - Every app is a window placed on a zoomable canvas, giving visual organization where nothing hides behind a tab.
- •Saved workspaces and unlimited canvases - App positions and tabs persist between sessions, and paid plans allow as many canvases as you need, for example one per project or area of life.
- •Visible AI agents - Agents get their own cursor and work in windows on your canvas, so you can watch them, pause them mid-click, type a correction or take any window back.
- •Lead and helper agents - A lead agent splits a task across helper agents and runs them as a team, and every result is verified before it is marked complete.
- •Shared team canvas - Teammates work on one canvas with individual cursors, can use apps running on a colleague's machine streamed live, hide windows from others, and chat inside the OS.
- •Persistent rooms - A shared canvas keeps its state when people leave, so the team returns to everything where it was left.
Novastart fits people who run many apps at once and want a spatial, persistent layout instead of tabs and minimized windows, such as anyone keeping separate setups for household budgets, event planning, an apartment search and work. It also suits users who want to delegate multi-step tasks to AI agents but still see and steer what the agents are doing, rather than receiving an opaque result. The Team plan targets groups that currently rely on screen sharing to work together, giving each person direct control of a shared workspace and of each other's apps. The free tier is enough to try the canvas with a couple of canvases and a few windows before moving to Pro or Team.
