About Tesla Wrap Designer
Tesla Wrap Designer is a browser-based design studio for Tesla owners who want a custom wrap for the Paint Shop feature in the Tesla app. You pick your vehicle, design on a template that uses the correct Paint Shop UV layout for that model, watch the result render on a 3D car in real time, and export a PNG that can be uploaded in the Tesla app under Creations, then Wrap. Nothing has to be installed and no account is required to start. A wrap only looks right if it is painted onto the right UV map, and doing that by hand in a general-purpose editor is slow guesswork.
What sets it apart is the combination of model-specific templates, a live 3D preview and AI generation in one place. Alongside the manual editor, you can describe a wrap in a text prompt or upload a reference photo and have AI translate its colors, textures and patterns onto the selected template. A free community gallery holds more than 5,000 designs. The site describes itself as an independent, fan-made project built by a small team of Tesla owners and designers, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. Pricing is unusual: the editor and exports are free, and only AI generation is paid, through one-time credit packs rather than a subscription.
You start by choosing your Tesla. Templates cover Cybertruck, Model 3, Model Y, Model Y L, Model S and Model X, with separate templates for newer trims such as Model 3 (2024+) Performance and Model Y (2025+) Premium. Cybercab, Roadster and Semi are listed as coming soon.
From there you either design by hand in the 2D editor, uploading your own images and arranging them on the canvas, or you generate. Photo to Wrap takes a JPEG, PNG or WebP reference of up to 5 MB, applies its style to the chosen template and updates the 3D preview as soon as the wrap is ready. Each regeneration costs credits again.
Once the design looks right on the 3D model, you download the Paint Shop PNG, or continue in the editor to add text, combine assets or reposition artwork first. Finished designs can be shared to the public gallery.
- •Model-specific UV templates - every supported Tesla has its own template built on the Paint Shop UV layout, so exports land in the right place on the car.
- •Live 3D preview - designs render on a 3D Tesla model that can be inspected from every angle before you export.
- •AI Wrap Generation - describe a wrap in a text prompt and the AI produces a design on the selected template, at 10 credits per generation.
- •Photo to Wrap - upload a reference image and the AI Reference Design feature translates its colors, textures and pattern language onto the template, at 20 credits per generation.
- •Free editor and exports - uploading images, editing on the canvas, the 3D preview, UV-mapped PNG export and sharing to the gallery need no credits.
- •Community gallery and plates - a gallery of more than 5,000 AI-generated and owner-shared wraps, plus a plate gallery and plate generator. Further AI tools (Repaint, Inpainting, Erase & Fill and Style Transfer) are listed on the pricing page as coming soon.
The obvious audience is Tesla owners who want to personalize their car in the Paint Shop feature without learning UV mapping or paying for desktop design software. Owners who simply want something new can download a free design from the gallery in a few clicks.
People with a visual idea but no design skills get the most out of the AI side: a prompt or a photo of a pattern they like becomes a wrap that already fits their model, checked in 3D before download. Hobbyist designers who prefer to work by hand can use the free editor and exports without ever buying credits.
Because credits are sold as one-time packs that never expire, occasional users can buy the $4.90 Try Pack for a handful of generations instead of committing to a monthly plan.
