PuppyOne
Local-first workspace where you and your AI agents share the same files
About PuppyOne
PuppyOne is a workspace for people who use AI on real projects rather than in a chat window. Documents, notes, PDFs, research and drafts live together on your own machine, and the agents you already use work on those same files directly instead of on pasted copies.
Two design choices carry the product. The first is local by default: files stay entirely on your machine until you deliberately publish them, which is the answer to the awkward fact that the material most worth giving an AI is usually the material you least want uploaded. The second is that every change an agent makes is tracked in Git. That is a better idea than it first sounds. The recurring anxiety with agents editing files is not that they will do the wrong thing, it is that you will not notice, and a commit history turns invisible edits into a reviewable diff. When collaboration is needed, the same workspace publishes to the cloud, so you are not choosing between privacy and a team at the outset. It is a macOS app, and the version tracking assumes some comfort with the idea of commits and history even though you do not have to use Git directly.
You install the editor and point it at a project folder. Documents, notes, PDFs and drafts sit there as ordinary files rather than inside a proprietary store. Agents you already use are given access to the same folder, so they read and edit the real files instead of working from what you paste into a prompt. Each change they make is committed, giving you a history you can read, review and roll back rather than a mystery about what got altered. Everything stays local until you choose otherwise. When a team needs the same context, the workspace publishes to the cloud dashboard, and the hosting side is what turns a private folder into shared agent context.
- •Local by Default - Files never leave your machine unless you publish them deliberately
- •Agents Edit Real Files - Work happens on the actual project rather than on copies pasted into a chat
- •Every Change in Git - Agent edits become a reviewable history instead of silent modifications
- •Publish When Ready - The same workspace becomes shared team context without starting over
- •Mixed Material - Documents, notes, PDFs, research and drafts in one place rather than split by file type
Solo builders, researchers and writers who want agents working on their actual project files and are not willing to upload everything to get it. The Git tracking is the feature to weigh: if the thought of an agent editing your files unsupervised makes you uneasy, that is precisely the discomfort it addresses. Teams get the cloud tier when shared context matters. It is macOS only, and if your work already lives in a cloud suite where agents have access anyway, the local-first argument will not move you.
