About Riff
Riff is a free Chrome extension that drafts social media replies, direct messages and posts for X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram. People who reply to a lot of posts end up either repeating the same line everywhere or spending time rewriting their point for each one. Riff takes the point you want to make and writes a fresh reply for the specific post in front of you, in your own voice, without ever pressing send for you.
What sets it apart is that it runs entirely on your machine. Riff uses Gemini Nano, the AI model built into Chrome, so there are no servers, no API keys, no account and no monthly bill. That also means it needs a capable computer: Chrome 138 or newer, 22 GB of free disk space, and a GPU with more than 4 GB of VRAM or 16 GB of RAM. Riff is made by Zima Media OÜ, an Estonian company, and its privacy page states that it is free to use with no account, subscription or payment.
- •Install the extension and open its side panel on X, LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram with Option or Alt+Shift+R.
- •Paste or type the point you want to make, and pick a Voice or preset.
- •Adjust the dials for pitch, tone, length, emoji, language, link and sales tactic as needed.
- •Riff runs a four-stage read, write, check and polish pipeline on the post in front of you, checking the draft against your last 60 replies and your Never say list.
- •Review the reply, edit if you want, and send it yourself.
