About Neume
Neume is an AI song generator that turns a short text description into a complete, original song. You describe what you want to hear, such as the genre, the mood, the language or the subject, or paste lyrics of your own, and Neume writes the words, composes a melody, generates the vocals, adds instruments and mixes the result into a finished track. The site says the whole process takes under 3 minutes. The problem it addresses is simple: most people who want a custom song, whether a birthday tune for a friend, an intro for a YouTube channel or a quick demo of a lyric idea, have no studio, no band and no production skills. Neume replaces that session with a prompt box, and it runs on the web at app.neume.io as well as in iOS and Android apps, with songs and credits synced across devices.
What sets Neume apart from a plain text-to-music generator is the editing layer around the first result. Its Remix feature lets you select a time range in a finished song, rewrite the lyrics for that part and have Neume sing just that section again in the same voice while the rest of the track stays as it was. The same platform includes an AI music video editor and an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that lets assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude make songs, change lyrics and reimagine tracks from inside a chat. Neume is owned and operated by Neumosys LLC according to its terms of service. Those terms say you own songs created from your own prompts and lyrics and may use them commercially, but they also grant Neumosys a perpetual license to use your content to operate, improve, train models for and promote the service, which is worth knowing before you upload anything personal. Pricing is credit based: the first song is free with no card required, followed by weekly, monthly or yearly subscriptions, or one-time top-up credit packs that never expire.
Step one is the prompt. Type a description like "upbeat pop song about summer road trips" or "melancholic piano ballad in Hindi", or include your own lyrics directly in the prompt. No music theory is needed, and the homepage offers ready-made example prompts for birthdays, weddings, worship, rap and lullabies that open straight in the web app.
Step two is generation. Neume writes original lyrics if you did not supply any, composes a melody, adds vocals and instruments and mixes the track. Each generation costs one credit and, according to the pricing page, produces two songs to choose from.
Step three is refinement. If one part is not right, you open the Remix tool, pick a song from your library or upload your own audio file, highlight the exact time range (a single line, a verse or a whole chorus), type new words, and Neume regenerates only that part in the same voice. Each remix costs one credit. When you are happy with the result, you download the audio or share it directly, and you can turn it into a music video in the built-in editor, where each second of AI video costs one credit.
There is also a route that skips the app entirely. Once you add Neume as a custom connector in Claude, or connect it from an MCP client such as Cursor or Windsurf, your assistant can write lyrics with you, generate the song and play it back in the chat, list your songs, change the lyrics of one part or reimagine a whole song in a new style. Neume's MCP announcement says its ChatGPT app is in review for the ChatGPT app directory. Songs made this way are saved to the same Neume account.
- •Complete Songs from a Prompt - Neume produces a finished song rather than a loop or a sketch: original lyrics, a melody, a generated voice, fitting instruments and a polished mix. You can steer it with genre, mood, topic and language, or hand it your own lyrics, and the site says a track is ready in under 3 minutes, which makes it practical to try several directions before settling on one.
- •Section Remix - The Remix feature is the most distinctive part of the product. Select a time range, rewrite the words for that section and Neume re-sings only that part in the same voice, blending it into the original while leaving everything else untouched. It works on songs made in Neume and on audio you upload, which suits fixing a single weak line without regenerating a song you otherwise like.
- •30+ Languages and Every Genre - Songs can be created in more than 30 languages, including English, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Korean and French. Genre coverage on the site runs from pop, hip-hop, R&B, EDM, country and rock to K-pop, Afrobeats, Latin, lo-fi, drill, classical, jazz and gospel.
- •AI Music Videos - A built-in video editor generates video clips from images, lip-syncs characters to the song audio, adds animated text overlays and exports finished music videos in any aspect ratio, so a song can go straight to vertical social formats or a widescreen upload.
- •MCP Server for AI Assistants - The Neume MCP server exposes tools to generate a song, list song parts, change lyrics, reimagine a song in a new style and check your credit balance. In ChatGPT you can also attach audio, such as a hum or a voice memo, and have Neume sing it again in a new style or follow its melody. Your assistant checks with you before any action that uses credits.
- •Commercial Use and Cross-Device Access - Songs you create from your own prompts and lyrics come with commercial use rights for YouTube videos, podcasts, social content, advertising and client work. Paid plans add private and unlisted songs, priority support and first access to new features, and the web, iOS and Android apps share one library and one credit balance.
Neume is built first for people who want a personal song without learning production: someone writing a birthday, anniversary, wedding or proposal song, a parent who wants a lullaby in their own language, or a group of friends making an inside-joke track. The prompt-only workflow and the free first song make it easy to try without commitment.
Content creators are the second audience. YouTubers, podcasters and social media creators can generate intro and outro music, background songs and short tracks for ads, and use the music video editor to produce visuals in the aspect ratio each platform needs, with commercial rights on songs made from their own prompts.
Songwriters and producers can use Neume to hear a lyric idea sung back quickly, test the same words across genres and fix individual lines with Remix rather than regenerating the whole track. Teachers can turn lesson material into songs, and worship and gospel groups are explicitly covered by the genre list. People who already work inside ChatGPT, Claude or an MCP-capable editor can make and edit songs from their assistant without switching apps. Anyone planning to upload personal recordings should read the terms first, since they grant Neumosys a broad license to content created on the service.
