Composio
Tool access and auth infrastructure for AI agents
About Composio
Composio is the layer that lets an agent touch other systems. It provides access to over a thousand tools along with the authentication infrastructure behind them, aimed explicitly at coding harnesses: Claude, Codex, OpenClaw, Cursor and Hermes are named on the homepage rather than treated as an afterthought.
The genuinely tedious problem it solves is auth. Connecting an agent to Gmail, Slack, Linear and a database is not hard once; it is hard forty times, with four different OAuth dances, token refresh, scope management and credential storage, none of which is the product you meant to build. Composio handles that, and adds an MCP gateway so one managed endpoint serves all your tools and agents rather than each agent carrying its own integration code. Access control matters at team scale too: a shared connection such as a support mailbox can be reused across an organisation without every person wiring up their own. Pricing deserves reading properly because it has more dimensions than most. The free tier is hard-capped rather than trial-limited, at 100K tool calls a month with unlimited connections and three team members, and pauses at the cap instead of billing you. Pro is $29 a month with included credit, then meters per tool call and per trigger event, and using Composio-managed OAuth apps instead of your own costs extra per call.
You connect the apps your agent needs, either through your own OAuth application and API keys or through Composio-managed shared apps if you would rather skip setup. Tools then become available to the agent through the SDK or through a single managed MCP endpoint. A CLI adds tools and auth to a coding agent in one command. At runtime the agent calls tools and Composio handles credentials, refresh and permission boundaries, metering each call. Spend caps can be set so overage cannot surprise you, and usage on the free tier simply stops at the cap rather than converting into a bill.
- •1000+ Tools - A catalogue rather than integrations you write and maintain one at a time
- •Auth Infrastructure - OAuth flows, token refresh and credential storage handled centrally
- •MCP Gateway - One managed endpoint serving all tools to all agents
- •Built for Coding Agents - Explicit support for Claude, Codex, Cursor, OpenClaw and Hermes rather than generic SDK-only access
- •Shared Connections - Team accounts reusable across an organisation with access control
- •Hard-Capped Free Tier - 100K tool calls a month, no card, usage pauses instead of billing
Developers wiring agents into real business systems, where the work is integration rather than intelligence. It pays off fastest when you need several services at once and would otherwise write and maintain each connection yourself. Teams get real value from shared connections and central credential handling, which is also a security improvement over keys scattered across machines. Read the rate card before scaling: per-call metering plus surcharges for managed OAuth apps means high-volume usage needs modelling rather than assuming $29 covers it. For a single integration you already have a token for, this is unnecessary.
